Google Sheets Sidebar (the “Add-on”) is a free educational resource published by Kevin Cassidy under the name Kevin's Teacher Tech (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Add-on accesses, how that information is used, and the choices available to users.
With a user’s authorization, the Add-on accesses the Google spreadsheet in which the user opens it. Depending on the feature selected, this may include:
Sheet names and column headers
Cell selections and spreadsheet structure
Names, roster entries, grades, formulas, and other cell values in the current spreadsheet
Values required to match rows and update columns between sheets (tabs) in the current spreadsheet
The Add-on requests access to the current spreadsheet. It does not request broad access to the user’s Google Drive.
Spreadsheet information is used only to perform the action initiated by the user, such as extending selected ranges, inserting grade formulas, or copying matching values from a source sheet to the active sheet.
Names are compared without regard to capitalization or surrounding whitespace. If the same name occurs more than once, those rows are paired by their order in the source and destination rosters, and the Add-on reports the duplicate to the user.
The current version of the Add-on processes spreadsheet information within Google Apps Script. It does not send spreadsheet content to a server operated by Kevin's Teacher Tech, does not maintain an external database of spreadsheet content, and does not sell or share spreadsheet content for advertising.
Google may process account and spreadsheet information as necessary to provide Google Sheets, Google Apps Script, authorization, security, logging, and related Google services. Google’s handling of that information is governed by Google’s applicable terms and privacy policies.
Google Apps Script may create execution and error logs as part of operating and diagnosing the Add-on.
We do not intentionally place spreadsheet cell contents or student records in application log messages. If a user sends a support email, we receive the information that the user voluntarily includes in that message.
Because the current version does not maintain a developer-operated database, there is ordinarily no separate copy of spreadsheet content for us to delete.
Updates made by the Add-on are stored in the user’s spreadsheet and remain under the control of that spreadsheet’s owner and editors.
Users can revoke the Add-on’s access through their Google Account permissions and can uninstall it through Google Workspace Marketplace or Google Sheets. Users may contact us at the address below with privacy or deletion questions.
We use the limited permissions reasonably necessary for the Add-on’s functions and rely on Google Apps Script to execute the Add-on.
No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and users should avoid sending sensitive spreadsheet contents in support email unless necessary.
The Add-on may be used by educators with spreadsheets containing student information. Schools and educators are responsible for determining whether use of the Add-on is permitted by their institution and applicable privacy laws and policies.
The Add-on is not directed to children for the purpose of creating accounts, and Kevin's Teacher Tech does not use the Add-on to create profiles of students.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Add-on or applicable requirements change. The published policy will show its effective date.
Material changes to data access or use will be described before or when the updated version takes effect.
